Vorbis in AVI does NOT work fine. AVI is an inferior container that
works best with CBR audio (constant bit rate). Due to some funky hacks
and some interesting bugs (!) in the original Microsoft AVI reader (!!)
VBR (variable bit rate) was possible as well. One restriction is that
the audio must have a constant number of bytes per sample (this has
nothing to do with the bitrate). This is true for PCM, MP3, AC3.

Vorbis, on the other hand, uses a variable number of samples per
packet. Therefore you cannot store Vorbis in AVI in a sane way. It might
work with some media players AS LONG AS you don't seek. As soon as you
seek you're screwed.

Use better containers like OGM or Matroska for Vorbis.
