I felt the same when I started to use Linux. I then changed to Debian
and jointed a Linux Mailing List, where I always had questions starting
with "I am new to Linux ...". There were always people explaining me
everything with easy to understand words. Then some of them recommended
me cool programs (like dvdrip, or mutt, or Debian, or Vim). Now I cannot
imaging using a computer without Linux.
The greatest thing about Linux is that you use the same program for
different tasks (with other words you combine programs).
For example I use aspell to check the spelling of my emails, my web
pages, my comments in source codes, etc.
I use vim to write web pages, emails, configuration files, source code.
Etc.
One has to get use of the console, but the console is really powerful.
And last but not least, because almost everything is open source, you
can change anything or let somebody change it for you.
