that's too bad, some of the tools are really excellent, like this dvd
decrypter, for example.

afaik, the iso it makes conforms to ISO standards, so i seriously doubt it's
not compatible with transcode. i'm checking out the settings now to try a few
different things -- there is no documentation, though. i don't know what's
worse, no documentation, or the typically non-user centric, application-centric
documentation that comes with most linux software. :p

Works for me.

> I'm just getting a bit angry about such "bug reports"... What means "not
work"? Such a report causes a bunch of questions you should answer in
your report from the first, instead of urging me to ask them. What
happens? Your computer explodes? dvd::rip closes? The button is jamming?
The file isn't deleted? It's deleted, but not the content of the logging
window? Did you check the file permissions? Which dvd::rip version do
you use? Which Linux distro? Which Perl and Gtk versions?

apologies for not being more explicit. i thought it was possible that the
problem was not a bug but something ideosyncratic to my machine and OS install,
so i didn't intend it as a bug report but only to open a discussion before
possibly making a bug report if necessary.

"not work" means the action didn't have the intended and expected result. my
computer does not explode. dvd::rip remains open. the button does not jam and
can be pressed repeatedly with no visible result. i don't know if the file is
deleted because i don't know where the file is. the contents of the logging
window are not deleted. i did not check file permissions for the reason noted
previously. i use dvd::rip version 0.52.5, perl v5.8.7, and Gtk 1.2.10 on arch
linux.

Probably it's now a good idea to read at least this:

thanks for pointing that out. some of us who are not software developers are
equally busy with other real-world problems, like researching to try to save
people from serious cellular DNA and mitochondrial disfunction disorders, so we
don't always have time to wade through non-task centric documentation for
relatively more trivial things like ripping a dvd. but i will reference that in
the future in case i have more problems with the software, thank you.

Thanks,

Joern

P.S.: I know, users *can't read*! :))
