I think it's a transcode bug because there are a bunch of transcode processes hanging around after processing stops. The bug is an old one that I've been seeing for several generations of dvd::rip and transcode hoping that it would disappear. I'm about to start researching the transcode mailing list about it.

I have a Fedora Core 3 system that I try to keep well updated. I'm currently running:

kernel.i686 2.6.11-1.35_FC3
dvd::rip         0.52.5 (binary package from exit1.org)
transcode.i386 1.0.0-0.lvn.0.4.rc1.3
ImageMagick.i386 6.2.2.0-2.fc3
mplayer.i386 1.0-0.lvn.0.19.pre7.3
xine.i386 0.99.3-0.lvn.8.3
cdrdao.i386 1.1.9-6
perl.i386 3:5.8.5-12.FC3
vcdimager.i386 0.7.21-0.lvn.1.3
mkisofs.i386 8:2.01.1-5
cdrecord.i386 8:2.01.1-5

I do not have the following installed:

xvid4conf
subtitle2pgm
rar
ogmtools
dvdxchap
mjpegtools
fping
