The presets use clip2 for simplicity and because it's easier to fulfill
the fast resize requirements this way. But you can have black bar 
autodetection in clip1 if you like: just use the "Zoom Calculator" and 
tell dvd::rip to use clip1 for "Auto clipping".

As well you could cut off black bars on the first clipping manually (or
later using the correspondent button in the preview dialog, once 
implemented ;), then enter "720" to the width entry and push the "Calc 
height" button. dvd::rip will calculate the height for your clipping 
keeping the aspect ratio. This that works only for HQ resizing, but you
can switch fast resizing on again later and modify the values slightly 
by hand to get the fast resizing Ok, but then you have of course some 
aspect ratio error.

I doubt there are many clipping/zooming things you can't do with 
dvd::rip ;)
