I have looked at Triffid Hunter's setup, and it looks like this may
indeed be a factor of dvd::rip needing a linuxthreads fallback in glibc,
and Workaround NPTL is what tells it to utilize this. I am currently
recompiling glibc (and possibly related packages, although i hope they
aren't linked statically) in order to test this theory, as then all
other variables will remain the same.
