I have the same player and the same problem. I have found on dvdhelp
some instructions which xvid options to enable/disable to make a file
viewable on DVP 642. Unfortunately, this was for xvid options for
virtual dub, I think, for windows. Anyway, I tried to repeat their
instructions as close as possible with dvd::rip, but without any
success. So far, using ffmpeg produces very good results for me, so I
just dropped the xvid.
