[dvd::rip] Fullscreen Aspect Ratio Changed

Subject: [dvd::rip] Fullscreen Aspect Ratio Changed

Hello,

I've been researching and practicing ripping dvd's for some time now.
I have a few questions regarding how movies are re-encoded.

1. Whenever I recode a 4:3 movie, it ends up with black bars on the
top and bottom of the screen. This is using the Clip & Zoom preset "
- No Modifications - ". If nothing was changed, why is it no longer
full screen?

2. Is it better to leave the resolution unchanged and encode at a
lower video bitrate, or reduce the resolution and increase the video
bitrate?

3. What is the best way to crop the black bars off a widescreen
without increasing or decreasing the resolution? If that is not
possible, what is the best preset to use for cropping the video?

I want to keep the copies of my dvd's on my pc as close to the
original video as possible.

Thanks,
Benjamin
