Hi List,
So far, DVD rip has worked very well for me!
Now that I've experimented a little, it would be great to see which
clip and zoom and transcode settings are giving people good results.
For example, I'm on a pretty nice 4:3 television with no HDTV.
What are the best "presets" under clip and zoom, and the best
transcode settings to use. I've searched all over, and there is
more information than I could ever read out there, but I've yet to
find a matrix of boiled down settings.
This is what I need the files riped DVD's to do:
1) play on mplayer. (It's MythTV really). So far every setting
I've tried, works, but with mixed quality results.
2) Video quality is around 99% that of a DVD.
3) Take 2GB per hour or less.
4) Ability to put in video editor and build my own DVD's. For
example, using Adobe Premier Elements.
So, what are the best codecs and settings for this?
For example, I riped a DVD the other night with ffmpeg and mpeg4.
The video seems to speed up and slow down, depending on how many
things are moving at any given time. It's really annoying.
I'd love to make a matrix of all settings and results, but each rip
takes hours (as you all know).
Is there a place I can go to for this boiled down information? Or
better yet a place users can submit their results?
Thanks! And thanks for maintaining this great utility!
