i use fedora core 4
i get my dvdrip rpms from livna.org and run yum install perl-Video-DVDRip.
I cannot get any of the latest transcodes to work so i use
transcode-0.6.14-1.1.fc3.rf but that is not a dvdrip issue.

installing dvdrip is _really_ easy if you use the tools that the
distro provides
