[dvd::rip] Cluster support for vobcopy images?

Subject: [dvd::rip] Cluster support for vobcopy images?

Hi,

Dvdrip seems to have no ability on any of the machines I've installed it
on, to rip dvd's to the hard drive. I always get an error saying that
it stopped ripping after X number of frames, even though there are Y>X
number of frames.

To get around this, I just use vobcopy to copy the dvd contents to disk
and then turn dvdrip loose on the appropriate directory. This afternoon
I set up clustering support on the three computers in the house and
tried to test it on a dvd image created by vobcopy and promptly
discovered that clustering wasn't supported in this particular case.

It's not clear to me why since presumably however dvdrip transfers dvd
contents to disk can't be all that dissimilar to what vobcopy does. Are
there any plans to expand clustering support to disk images created by
other tools? E.g. vobcopy, or to make dvdrip's own ripping to hard drive
capabilities more robust (since it fails on about 90% of the dvd's I've
tried it on and vobcopy has never failed, it clearly is doable).

Don't get me wrong, I love dvdrip. It takes greatly simplifies the
transcoding process, but I'd also love to see it become more robust
(w.r.t. ripping, cropping and even transcoding, it's very hit or miss).

Thanks,

Albert
