[dvd::rip] less fps = more MBs?

Subject: [dvd::rip] less fps = more MBs?

I recently played around with one video encoding and created a number of previews with different settings - audio quality, framerates, 1 or 2 pass - that sort of thing.

All seemed to work well which was great - except that I noticed that when I reduce the framerate (at first from 25 to 23 and then to 15) the size of the resulting file was larger than it had been at 25fps - which was the exact opposite of what I expected.

It's not a big deal to be honest as I'll probably stick with 25fps anyway, but I'm very curious to find out why this is the case
