[dvd::rip] dvd::rip doesn't work after SuSE 10 "upgrade"

I recently used the SuSE 10 installation DVD from Linux Magazine to upgrade my 
9.2 system to 10, and now dvd::rip (0.52.3) fails to start with the error 
message: Can't locate Locale/TextDomain.pm in @INC (followed by a list of 
directories)

What is wrong here, and how can I fix it? It is perfectly possible the 
"upgrade" decided to remove some packages, because it removed GCC without 
asking (this particular version didn't come with it, but I never expected it 
to remove it when it's already installed! Novell probably shouldn't hold out 
much hope for me buying their retail version again any time soon...)
