Sure, I'll have a look at it. I can add the functionality to the
support applications used by dvdrip (ie. subtitle2pgm), but don't know
anything about modifying the dvdrip gui itself. It looks like some
kind of index file will have to be produced during the ripping process
when all the .png images are created. We still want all the images
produced, but when the "forced only" box is checked, the index file is
referenced and only forced images are presented. I will endevour to
keep this as simple as possible.

ps: something wierd happened with my transcode post, don't know if it
got there.

A patch (for both 0.6.14 and 1.0.2) is attached which adds a
"forced" flag to the extsub filter. If true, then only subtitles that
are forced will be rendered. Example: "-J
extsub=track=0:forced=1:vertshift=..." etc. The default (is of course) off.
Great. I'll take a look at it asap.
Much more work needs to be done to incorporate this adequately into
dvdrip. It would be really nice to have a "forced" checkbox on the
subtitle preview page which would filter all images out that were not
forced.
Yes. dvd::rip would need to know in advance which subtitle images have
the flag. dvd::rip uses subtitle2pgm for extracting the images from the
subtitle streams. I think we need to patch it to get the "forced" flag
reported during this process. Then dvd::rip could filter the images and
could make good suggestions which subtitle stream is the correct for the
selected language.
Do you volunteer for the subtitle2pgm patch? ;)
