The checkbox was replaced by the "Video bitrate calculation" notebook. 
If you want a BPP based bitrate calculation select "By quality" there, 
enter your BPP value and *keep* the "By quality" tab activated. dvd::rip
always uses the currently selected tab as the calculation mode.

If you did it that way, please look into the dvd::rip logfile and check
the -w option of the executed transcode command. It should reflect the 
video bitrate calculated by dvd::rip. If that's the case but the file is
that small anyway, the video codec obviously has problems to achieve a 
higher bitrate, which would be not a dvd::rip problem anymore ;)
