First, I beg your patience. I have only been addicted to Linux for about 6 months, so I'm a newbie there; and this is my first attempt at using dvd::rip. I have read the documentation and the FAQ. I searched the archives for references to this problem but did not find any explicit results when searching for the string "scanning transcode".
Short version: dvd::rip won't lauch. When launching from the command line I get this message, but then nothing happens thereafter: "[filterlist] (re)scanning transcode's module path /usr/lib/transcode..."
This path does exist and is populated with mainly .la and .so files.
Long version: My uname -a = Linux intuitor 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 #1 PREEMPT Mon Jan 30 12:07:24 MST 2006 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
I installed dvd::rip via Gentoo's portage package manager. I checked for the packages marked as mandatory from the installation documentation to ensure they were installed and of minimum version as follows (which of course, portage would already have checked any dependencies, but...I checked anyway):
jason$ sudo equery l dvdrip [ Searching for package 'dvdrip' in all categories among: ] * installed packages [I--] [ ] media-video/dvdrip-0.52.6 (0)

Will someone help me in getting dvd::rip to work? THANK YOU in advance.
Jason
