[dvd::rip] Combing issue

Subject: [dvd::rip] Combing issue

Regardless of deinterlacing settings I seem to get very fine horizontal striations along the edges of objects especially when moving and a slight 'staircase' pixelation effect on slopes as a result.

I guess this is what is called 'combing' (?), and I suppose this is a mild example.

It's much worse testing on one particular dvd.  Codec is ffmpeg mpeg4, but it's also there with xvid4 or ffmpeg h264 (the latter only single pass).  BPP=0.4

I realise this might strictly speaking be better on a transcode list, but I'm sure dvdrip users also deal with these things often ....

Any suggestions?
