Hi, I'm replying because this is also a transcode issue ;)
"xvid4" name refers to xvid codec >= 1.0, and "xvid" is a symlink to
xvid module chosen at compile time. Let me expand a bit.
As in version 1.0.2 (last stable), transcode supports /three/ xvid
codec APIs: in chronological order, xvid2 (older API), xvid3, xvid4.
The user can choose at configure time
which module will be used as default one, and the "xvid" symlink will
be created accordingly.
Supporting a such wide range of xvid codec versions is due mainly to
hystorical reasons.
But at present times, xvid4 aka xvid 1.x is for shore the preferred
module, so the other ones will be deprecated in future stable
transcode release (1.1.0), or maybe simply disabled.
When this will happen, "xvid4" will very likely be renamed as "xvid",
and the whole situation should be come a bit less messy :)
Best regards,
