Hiho,I fixed this "unhandled exception on startup && deactivating audio 
codecstuff" bug. But it was in Gtk2::Ex::FormFactory, not dvd::rip. So upgrade 
your G:E:F to 0.62 and it should work again.Get it from here:

 please report whether this works for you (and if not I like to knowyour gtk C

Thanks for your efforts, they are very much appreciated. The upgraded 
Gtk2-Ex-FormFactory now works as expected.
