[dvd::rip] New DVD::RIP user -> "An internal exception was thrown!"

Hi,

I'm an Austrian writer living in Montpezat (South France), and a 100% GNU/Linux
user since 2001. On my five machines, I use Slackware Linux 10.2 with kernel
2.6.14.

I duly built all the dependencies for DVD::RIP, transcode works OK, plus a total
of 11 PERL modules, tested with 'make test'. I downloaded the latest 0.97.8,
installed it (install went OK) and launched it. I can open 'Edit ->
Preferences' OK, but as soon as I click on anyone of the other configuration
sections, I get the following error message:
