RE: [dvd::rip] avbi file only 2056 kb

Subject: RE: [dvd::rip] avbi file only 2056 kb

Sorry, I noticed I actually replied to the wrong email. There were 2
separate suggestions:

1. Restrict the encoding to starting at frame 25.
I tried this (see post below), it did not change anything. Not sure
what it was supposed to do, though.

2. Put a '*' or a .vob file name in for the '-i' switch for transcode.
I tried a '*' first, I got errors doing that due the the shell
interpolating the '*'.
[transcode] warning : unused command line parameter detected (30/33)
[transcode] warning :
argc[30]=/data/media/dvdrip/cody1/vob/001/cody1-002.vob (unused)
[transcode] warning :
argc[31]=/data/media/dvdrip/cody1/vob/001/cody1-003.vob (unused)
[transcode] warning :
argc[32]=/data/media/dvdrip/cody1/vob/001/cody1-004.vob (unused)

So then, I tried replacing the '*' with the first vob file name:
cd /data/media/dvdrip/cody1/tmp && nice -n 18 transcode -H 10 -a 0 -x
vob -i /data/media/dvdrip/cody1/vob/001/cody1-001.vob -w 1485,50 -c
25-146924 -F mpeg4 -b 128,0,2 --a52_drc_off -f 25 -Y 46,8,42,8 -Z
640x360 -R 2 -y ffmpeg -o /data/media/dvdrip/cody1/avi/001/cody1-001.avi
--print_status 20

Unfortunately, this resulted in the same exact situation as using '-i
/data/media/dvdrip/cody1/vob/001', which is that I wound up with a 2056
byte file. Note that I am not receiving the "file read error" as is
mentioned in the post.

So, if no one has any feedback that my transcode switches might be the
issue, then I supposed I'll try posting this on the transcode-users
list.

Thanks very much,
David.

P.S. Sorry to highlight your poor customer service skills, Joern. ;-)

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately, this did not work for me. I still
wind up with a 2056 byte (not 2056 Kb) avi file. And I never get the
status indicator that prints the status every 20 frames, by the way.
The command I used was (I put the frame range into the dvd::rip gui, and
used the debug -> transcode commands):

cd /data/media/dvdrip/cody1/tmp && nice -n 18 transcode -H 10 -a 0 -x
vob -i /data/media/dvdrip/cody1/vob/001 -w 1485,50 -c 25-146924 -F mpeg4
-b 128,0,2 --a52_drc_off -f 25 -Y 46,8,42,8 -Z 640x360 -R 2 -y ffmpeg -o
/data/media/dvdrip/cody1/avi/001/cody1-001.avi --print_status 20
