Thank you for all the help. For future reference I have gone through some of the steps:

*************
looks like you need glib-object.h to proceed. On my distro, that comes with
glib. If fedora splits up development packages like debian does, you'll need
glib-devel or something like that.

-Unless it is not recognized for some reason it appears I have this already
$> yum list glib-dvel
....

Installed Packages
glib-devel.i386 1:1.2.10-15 installed

**************
But suggest you trying dvd::rip 0.97.10. Although it's an "unstable"
release it's in a quite usable state. In particular it uses the more
modern Gtk 2.x library which is usually quite less pain to install on a
recent Linux system.

- I had initially tried this route but the dependency problems were even worse (about a page long). After installing programs which I thought would fix the dependency issues (I still am trying to figure out why there is a dependency problem after the program has been installed), I found the previous version of dvd::rip which only had the dependecy issue with gtk-perl. When I get better at this I may attempt an installation with the newer version.

****************

I run what you tried to make running, perl-Video-DVDRip-0.52.5 on FC3. I quickly looked
over your data, and wondered about two things:

1) There is a strange mix of source RPMs (ending src.rpm) and RPMs. I do not know, if
this is really intended. I think you want to run DVD-Rip, and not to compile it.

2) The Gtk-Perl toolkit, which seems to be missing on your system, is on mine from the
DAG repository (http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/). Read
http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/FAQ.php#B (section B4) for how to extend your yum
correspondingly. (Consider also the warning about mixing of repositories here:
http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_3_installation_notes.html#Warning)

Hope this helps, good luck.

Robert

-I used your Gtk-Perl-0.7008-37.1.fc3.rf.i386.rpm, and am finally able to get rid of that dependency problem. Hopefully I will be able to get the program up and running soon!

Thank you everyone for your help!
Pat
