Hiho,
next dvd::rip release (0.97.11) should fix that issue, because it uses
some new functions of libintl-perl 1.16, which makes my own (non-perfect
;) utf-8 workaround for older libintl-perl versions obsolete and should
work perfectly with Perl Gtk2 now (regarding charset/utf-8 stuff).
You can check it out from CVS if you like. If you do, please report
whether it works for you.
