[dvd::rip] dvdrip on FC5

I'm using dvdrip on FC5 (got it from freshrpms) and there's some
problem I can't get around: it starts ripping and that goes fine,
but when it gets to the grab preview stage and just gets stuck (the
machine is idle, and the jobs window shows "waiting").  If I restart
with checking the "force slow grabbing", it does go through this stage
until there's less than 1% left -- and then it gets stuck.  The log
window doesn't help much, at least it doesn't look like it shows
anything that is stuck.

Am I doing something wrong?

(This is the first time I'm trying this thing, so I might be doing
something stupid.)
