In an attempt to find out more information, I saw that transcode is
getting stuck when it is getting used to extract an image -- this:

  transcode -H 10 --print_status 25 -o snapshot -y ppm,null -x vob,null
            -i /tmp/eli-dvdrip/data/P/vob/001/ -c 15-16 -L 224252

is the command, and it gets stuck when I use it directly too.  So, I
realize that this is not a dvdrip problem, but maybe someone here can
tell me what can be done about it?
