[dvd::rip] Using dvd::rip on an image folder

Subject: [dvd::rip] Using dvd::rip on an image folder

I am using dvd::rip 0.97.12-1 under Fedora Core 5 kernel 2.6.17-1.2145 and I have the lastest version of all dependencies installed.  The program works perfectly for ripping and transcoding video from DVD discs.  However, dvd::rip has an option to use a DVD image directory for the video input data.  The problem with this feature is that when clicking on "Read DVD table of contents" in the "RIP title" tab the program tries to access the DVD drive.  Why does it do this?  Am I doing something wrong?  This feature is not well documented on the website.  The directory I am trying to use is a complete decrypted copy of the DVD and contains all the vob ifo and bup files.  Why does dvd::rip try to access the drive and not the information in the folder?  Thanks for any help.
