it has a version number. If you installed it from some RPM repository:
find out which version you have (using rpm). As well dvd::rip shows a
splash screen on startup, including its version number, and has an
"About" dialog doing the same.
Without this information I really can't help you.

Hmm, I'm really unsure whether we are talking about dvd::rip here... ;)
Since ages Ctrl+D opens a window showing all packages required by
dvd::rip, including their version numbers and if dvd::rip accepts the
installed versions. It should look similar to the screenshot on this
page:

There is a button called "Text version", which opens a window from where
you can copy the contents and paste them into a mail window, perfect for
bug reporting and stuff.
If Ctrl+D really does nothing on your system try the menu item Debug /
Check dependencies.

*sigh*, not /var/log/messages. dvd::rip has a "Log" tab...

Think before you code. And while you're doing it probably won't hurt. ;)
