Hi.
Some time ago I wrote a mail asking when transcode/dvd::rip will support
MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, AAC LC, MP4, perhaps you remember?
Now I decided to start ripping now (although dvd::rip/transcode cannot
use AAC/MP4 yet) and I've planned to do the following:
Clip/zoom, select all audio tracks I want, the subtitles I want and so
on, encode the vidoe to H264 (via ffmpeg), use ogg as containter and use
AC3 (copy) as audio format.
Now my question is,... is it possible to reencode the files I've created
in the meantime with H264/AC3/ogg to my proposed H264/aac/mp4 without
any loss?
I mean the video wouldn't have to change, the audio (as AC3) would be
the same as on the DVD and reencoding it to AAC would be the same as if
I would create a new rip from DVD?
But is it possible to convert between ogg and mp4? I've read that there
might be problems (e.g. with synchronisation or some I/B frames and so
on) when changing the container format.
Best wishes,
Chris.
