Not a computer newbie, but new to working with DVDs in this way. I have a problem with one DVD that I just created on a Panasonic DMR-ES15 DVD recorder. (not a computer device... this is hooked up to my AV system)
We had a VCR tape made up of old home movies from back in the 1940s, 1950s and into the mid 1980s. This was made from old 8mm home movie stuff. The original 8mm are gone (fire) and we want to try to get the VCR onto DVD, make several copies and distribute them among the family members. My wife spent several hours with the VCR hooked up to the DVD recorder and created a DVD that has 34 titles. Most of those only have 1 chapter (short home movie clips) but a few have 2 or 3 chapters.
When done getting the menu the way she wanted it she finalized the disc. ( DVD-R media ... I think Taiyo Uden )
Now when I take that to my computer and insert it, it doesn't have the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories I was expecting to find.
Instead it has just VIDEO_TS and it's not recognized as a directory or a file. I can't open it.
DVD::Rip has issues with it. It errors when trying to list and hangs... I have to quit out of it ... I just think this thing is either screwed up or non-standard HOWEVER, my wife took it to work and it plays beautifully in 3 other dvd players. So the disc works!
Anyone seen this? Am I missing codecs or something?
I tried vobcopy on it and that errors out as well not finding an information file...
I am new enough at this that I am already at about the limit of what I know and I'm looking for some direction. What should I be looking at?
Any help available on this? It would be appreciated.
Charlie
