[dvd::rip] segfault at startup n version 0.98.6

Subject: [dvd::rip] segfault at startup n version 0.98.6

Hi All

Just to mention a segfault problem on a freshly installed linux mint 4.0,
but after browsing the archives it seems to be the same than
http://www.exit1.org/archive/dvdrip-users/2006-01/msg00083.html.

I'll describe it anyway, just in case :

first, some pieces of information about my system :

CPU : pentium 4
sylvain@dell-raybaud:~$ uname -a
Linux dell-raybaud 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Dec 18 08:02:57 UTC 2007 i686
GNU/Linux
all LANG and LC_* are fr_FR.UTF-8
LANGUAGE is fr_FR:fr:en_GB:en

description of the problem :

dvdrip segfaults immediately when I start it :

sylvain@dell-raybaud:~$ dvdrip -d 9
--- START ------------------------------------
7729: Mon Dec 24 16:18:54 2007 - DEBUG LEVEL 9
Erreur de segmentation

There is nothing in dmesg and the strace is not readable to me, but I provide
in the .tgz attached (along with a list of packages installed).

When I ran "dvdrip -c" for the first time it opened fine, but now it segfaults
fractions of seconds after opening a window (I hardly have the time to see
there is a window opened before it segfaults).

when I start dvdrip with :

LANGUAGE=en_GB dvdrip
is shows the splash screen, then segfault.
same thing with any "LANGUAGE=..." I tried, exept LANGUAGE=fr_FR when it
crashes before the splash screen.
I also tried LC_ALL=... dvdrip (including LC_ALL=C), it segfaults before the
splash screen, sometimes complaining about a missing locale.

If I delete all ${HOME}/.dvdrip* files and folders, it shows
"[filterlist] (re)scanning transcode's module path /usr/lib/transcode..."
before segfaulting.

I have run the GTK tests suggested in
http://www.exit1.org/archive/dvdrip-users/2006-01/msg00083.html, they all
pass.

I guess I will try an older version...

thanks,

Sylvain

PS : I have previously sent this email but I used an email account different
than the one I used to subscribe to this mailing list, so I guess the mail is
blocked. Sorry if it isn't and you receive it two times...
