I've never actually had synch issues with dvd::rip. If the DVD
successfully rips to hard disk (not a given) then it generally works
fine from there for me. (except transcoding to x264, with which I've
had no end of trouble) I've only ever ripped European PAL DVDs,
however. Are you sure that dvd::rip detects the framerate of your
discs correctly? (PAL: 25fps, NTSC: ~29.97)
Another thing to work out is how quickly your transcoded files go out
of sync. If they start out synchronised, then after 1 minute (or 5 or
10 or whatever) of playback, how many seconds are audio and video out
of sync? If they're out of sync from the start and stay equally out of
sync across the whole file, you can probably use a custom parameter to
transcode to shift the audio.
In any case, that should give you some starting points.
