[dvd::rip] Beginning gets chopped off

I've had several movies where the beginning gets chopped off, typically about 
4-5 minutes.  If I rip/encode them in k3b, I get the same problem. I don't 
find the missing first 5 minutes on any other track.
Two recent examples are  "Speed racer" and "Sex in the City: The Movie"
Any ideas?


I'm currently using:
dvdrip, version 0.98.8
transcode 1.0.7rc1.
It happens if I use lsdvd or not.
libdvdcss 1.2.10.  
dvdread 0.9.7
