yes, deleting the ps1 file and doing "create" now works.
the strange thing is that this only seemed to happen with this dvd.
i think this might be because the first time i ripped it, my user did not have mount privileges on the dvd drive. this isn't required for video/audio ripping, but is required to get the ifo file for subs and dvd::rip was silently failing.
perhaps the requirement of mount access should be added to the docs for subtitles?

Hmm, I have no idea, why the .ps1 file is empty, since...

extracting the ps1 stream seems to work.
dvd::rip relies on the .ps1 file if it's there (although a 0-byte file
is quite useless...) and goes further extracting vobsubs from it.
Try deleting the empty .ps1 file and hit "create now" again. Although we
don't know why the 0-byte file was created (probably an earlier
not-recognized error?), this may work.
Which transcode version do you use?
