[dvd::rip] Which dvd-rom-drive

Hi,

I have some problems with my dvdrom-drives here... The internel drive (Thinkpad 
T61) didn't read encrypted dvd's.
Ok... Than I tried my some days aged external drive... Some dvd's were read and 
some stops during rip-process...
It seems, that the program do not do anything than and I have to quit the 
program...
Is it possible, that ripping a dvd depends on the dvdrom-drive? Is there a 
suggestion which external drive should be used?
